2. Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Bingo
Play Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade Bingo with the kids. It’s Macy’s 90th parade. Watching on Thanksgiving Day is a tradition for many families. Now you can add a little fun from Family Education.
3. Pumpkin Hunting Game
Hide small Pumpkins and small gourds outside around the house. Have the kids hunt for the hiding pumpkins.
4. Trim The Tree
If you can find a Christmas Tree Farm, in your area, open on Thanksgiving Day; picking a tree could be a fun adventure. It’s also a great place to grab some holiday photos. However, most are closed until the day after. You can grab your tree early, or decorate an artificial one. It’s a great tradition the whole family will enjoy, and it gets everyone in the holiday spirit.
5. Thanksgiving Day Hike
Participate in a local Turkey Trot. (Here’s Daily Burn’s list of best Turkey Trots)
Take the kids on a fun family hike! It’ll keep the kids busy, expend some of their energy, and it’s a great opportunity for family photos. The kids can also have a fun scavenger hunt. Here’s a scavenger hunt printable hunt list. Print out the list, glue or tape it to paper bags, and give each child their own collection bag.
6. Pumpkin Ring Toss
Line up five large pumpkins with stems, to form a ring toss. Use plastic glow in the dark necklaces for rings, mason jar lids, or make hoops with rope and duct tape. Mark a throwing line on the ground, and take turns trying to ring a pumpkin stem. Smaller children can attempt to ring an entire large pumpkin with a hula-hoop.

8. Fun With Beans
Grab a bag of dry soup beans, and some Elmer’s White School Glue. Dip beans in glue and place them on candles to form a design. Little kids can also make dry bean masterpieces by assembling beans randomly on construction paper.
9. Coloring Books and Games
10. Thankful Hands Book
Thankful Hands Handmade Project
Supplies:
- 2 pieces of brown paper for outside cover
- 8-10 pieces of colored construction paper for inside pages
- 2 pieces of ribbon about 6 inches long that match your colored construction paper
- Markers to decorate your hand pages
- Hole punch
- Acrylic paint (optional if you want to put hand prints on the outside cover)
Directions:
1.) Trace out an over sided hand in brown construction paper. Decorate the front of your book. Make sure you put the date on your cover.
2.) Trace out 8-10 hands in different colored papers. These hands will be a little smaller than the cover so you don’t see them when it is assembled. Have your kids write down the things they are thankful for on each hand and if they want, they can add pictures. The year we created this book the kids wanted to put their hand prints on the cover. You can do this by brushing your hand with acrylic paint and carefully pressing your hand on the outside cover. Let it dry before adding another hand print.
3.) Put all your hands together and make two holes in your book with a hole punch. Tie the book together with the pieces of cut ribbon. You are finished. Enjoy your book during this month and for years to come.
